Fact or Fiction

1. Marijuana is a very harmful, highly addictive, dangerous, illegal, gateway drug that currently has no accepted or proven medical use.

Or is it true that:

2. Marijuana is a safe, harmless, non-addictive, healthy drug that has healing qualities that should be promoted for our youth to partake for its mind developing effects and legalized as America s top cash crop.

Most would agree that both of the above statements are not absolutely true. However, if you have read most of the current published articles on the internet discussing the use of marijuana (where the majority of our youth get their information these days), the authors intended bias although not always explicit will

point you in one of the two above directions either pro-marijuana use or anti-marijuana use. Unfortunately, most of these sometimes well-crafted articles have little scientific evidence to validate their claims. We tend to expect this sort of thing from non-professional zealots and fanatical enthusiasts who have a deep passion to promote their cause, but it is very disappointing when we get information that directly contradicts scientific evidence from our paid government officials.

My personal experience with cherries has been more than astonishing. Many years ago (in my thirties), I experienced throbbing and excruciating pain in my left big toe. Practically in tears from the pain, my Mom suggested I had the ‘gout’ and to eat cherries. When

I asked her how many, she suggested as much as I could eat. So I went out and bought a medium brown bag of cherries, sat on my bed watching TV, and ate all of them.

Steroid injection represents a useful tool in the management of chronic shoulder pain. If a doctor deems steroid injections to be of use to the patient, they will typically use a lateral approach to inject the subchromial space, particularly with rotator cuff problems. At different times, the doctor may use an anterior approach or a posterior approach to actually put steroid into the shoulder joint. To conduct these straight injections would be less common though. Ideally, steroids should be thought of as providing temporary relief and when used appropriately, and in conjunction with physical therapy, should serve as a sort of Band-Aid for the shoulder pain. In this way, steroids will give people a temporary period of time in

which physical therapy can really start working. This is primarily because the steroid is a very effective anti-inflammatory, and for a short period of time will relieve pain enough to conduct therapy.
