Alcohol is a dangerous substance by all accounts. It can be fun in certain situations. Some studies have even shown a glass of wine can improve your health. However, too much of anything can be bad. This is never truer than with alcohol. Alcohol abuse can tear apart your life and your family s lives.

Sure, you probably looked cool at the party the other night. You may have downed a few beers in a chugging contest with your buddy s. You may have been the king of the party. People were quite possibly cheering your name. Then the room started to spin. It probably felt pretty cool for a

little bit. After a while you probably didn t feel so good. You then manage to say a few stupid things to people that you shouldn t say. You might have even hit on your best friend s girlfriend. Then you officially get sick. Your significant other spends a few hours holding your head over the toilet. The next thing you remember, its morning. Your head is pounding. You spend the rest of the morning drinking as much water as possible. The day is pretty much wasted.

I have had some really good friends that were addicted to drugs and the drugs caused major problems in their lives. All of these friends eventually hit bottom and decided that they needed to seek help to fix the problems they were having with drugs. Many of them knew that they needed to go into some sort of drug rehab program, but they were all very nervous about what a rehab program actually was. All drug rehab programs are similar, but some of the programs try to combat the problem of drug addiction in different ways. Prescription drug abuse is a serious issue that has resulted in a number of deaths and criminal activity. All addictions have symptoms, which allow us to recognize these problems as addictive diseases. The signs of addictive diseases are self-stimulation, compulsion, obsession, denial, withdrawal and craving syndrome, and unpredictable behavior. Like alcoholism or drug use, anger meets many of the criteria.

Self-Stimulation

For those who are rageaholics, expressing anger is self- stimulating. It triggers the compulsion for more anger. For example, let s pretend that we are going to provide treatment for alcoholics. On the way to the treatment center we stop and buy a case of beer. When we get to the meeting, we tell the alcoholics in therapy that they just need to do a lot of drinking to get it out of their system once

and for all. This is similar to when therapist tell men with rage problems, You just need to express yourself and get it out of your system. It is just as absurd. The more alcoholics drink, the more they want. The more ragers rage, the more they want to rage.
